Acoustic Design

Reduce Noise & Control the Sound

Good acoustics are linked to human well-being. It is a question of whether you feel comfortable in the acoustic environment, whether it is at home, in a conference room, in a classroom, at a concert, in the theatre or wherever. There is a lot of discussion at the moment about acoustic comfort as the subjective experience of good acoustics, which in fact is a more objective issue.

According to classic acoustics theory there are five requirements which, when met, result in good acoustics.

  • Appropriate Reverberation Time
  • Uniform Sound Distribution
  • Appropriate Sound Level
  • Appropriate, Low Background Noise
  • No Echo or Flutter Echoes

At AVSANT we base our recommendations on actual sound test data and analysis, and we offer our clients the optimal solution to their noise issues from our catalog of solutions based on their specific needs. Every project for an engineered solution includes a written report and offers the client a meeting to discuss the product recommendations and answer any questions.

Our team of independent consultants has unique capabilities in vibration and noise control for commercial applications. Specifically, applications include: auditoriums, classrooms, banquet settings, hospitality, outside venues, and stadiums.

Other applications include custom design of acoustical enclosures and barriers as needed for gas turbines, large generators, transformers, grinders, shredders, chillers and other miscellaneous industrial equipment. The noise will usually need to be enclosed or blocked at the source to meet noise reduction requirements. Since most machines will be unique, custom solutions are generally designed to meet the specific noise criteria, air flow requirements or access for operation and maintenance of the unit.

Design Consulting

We Design Robust yet Intuitive

Design Consulting — the art of translating what the end-user needs into documents that show how it is to be built. The process of audiovisual design may be conducted during the overall design phase of a new building, or independently as an AV-driven process for the renovation of an existing facility. In either case, the necessary design documents are produced to communicate to the AV installation team what our clients need in terms of systems and infrastructure.

Review Our 3 Step Process for Design Best Practices:

Coordinate All the Moving Parts and Pieces

The AVSANT design process includes tasks that are typically included in a building design and on smaller projects where some steps may be consolidated. The infrastructure design phase typically begins with a contract that also includes the system design. By way of formal kick-off, a meeting is called to establish the logistical parameters and set expectations for the design and integration process.

This first step is critical as an opportunity to establish best practice communications and coordination to ensure that all parties are aware of the AV design process requirements. Gathering the critical information should be kept streamlined and focused. This step is most effective when it is able to contain the following discussions:

  • AV Infrastructure Design Coordination
  • AV System Design Coordination
  • AV Installation Scheduling
  • Occupancy Overlap
  • Procurement Methods
  • End-User Coordination
  • Owner Furnished Equipment Coordination
  • Budgets & Fees
  • Project Confidentiality

Designing a Solid and Complete System

It is important to understand that the infrastructure is based on the design of the systems. Yet, in many longer-term projects, the final systems designs are not completed until after the infrastructure design is done. In shorter-term and fast-track projects, particularly in design-build delivery methods, the systems and infrastructure designs may be conducted simultaneously.

The infrastructure design is partly focused on architectural elements (such as space plan, screen locations and seating arrangements) that are being developed by the architect. For longer term projects, the electrical and mechanical requirements that are more closely tied to the AV electronics and wiring (such as power, conduit, back boxes and data/telecom), are based on conceptual designs for the AV systems and past experience of the AV designer.

Infrastructure is designed throughout the architectural design phases as outlined below:

  • Conceptual Design
  • Schematic Design
  • Design Development
  • Construction Documentation

We Design Robust yet Intuitive

With the infrastructure design and installation underway, the design of the actual AV systems takes place. The purpose of the design phase for the AV systems is the same as for the infrastructure and building design: to communicate the design intent from the AVSANT design team to the installation team so that the system can be constructed and installed. This is true for any of the design methods chosen. The mechanics of the process may vary, but the tasks remain the same across all the options.

Design Intent

The design intent, or how the project will ultimately “look,” can be viewed from three separate, but entirely integrated, perspectives — 1) fabrication and installation; 2) functional; and 3) quality

  • Fabrication & Installation Intent – Fabrication and installation intent relates to conveying the intent of the designer with respect to the selection and procurement of equipment, cable and other materials, in addition to the fabrication, installation and software programming tasks.
  • Functional Intent – While the details of fabrication and installation are essential to the design deliverables, this information must be complemented by the functional information about the systems. This is particularly important within consultant-led design-bid-build scenarios, but also applies to the other methods.
  • Quality Intent – Quality is intended for every aspect of the system — from the equipment to be procured, to the actual installation (wiring, terminations, rack assembly, signal quality) and to the optimal functionality for end-users. In fact, the higher the quality of the design process, the higher the quality of the design phase deliverables, which will ultimately improve the potential quality of the bids and the installation itself.

AV Security Analysis

Keeping AV Equipment Safe & Secure

Every company is a target and no company is beyond reach. Are you prepared? An AV network security assessment from AVSANT will help you discover hidden AV vulnerabilities and remediate them. No company is beyond reach. Are you prepared?

Protecting Yourself from Cyber Criminals

Organizations across the globe need to be highly aware of criminal enterprises and state sponsored cyber espionage actively stealing data. Worse yet, state sponsored attacks are very advanced and employ elusive techniques to infiltrate a corporate AV network in order to extract intellectual property such as designs, source code, and sensitive account information.

Securing Your AV Network

If an organization does not take the time to properly secure its AV network, the repercussions can be severe. Heavy fines, lawsuits, loss of critical data, and significant reputation damage are common consequences of a successful data breach. With AVSANT’s extensive line of security services, our AV security consulting team can help your organization successfully identify and remediate vulnerabilities, thus increasing security posture and ability to resist attacks.

Actionable Reporting

AVSANT reviews collected data and provides an integrated AV network security analysis report. This report goes beyond the typical reporting provided by commercial scanning tools. We use our in-depth reports, which feature detailed remediation steps, to clearly identify and describe critical vulnerabilities, and to provide a customized roadmap that leads your organization to a secure state.

AV System Programming

We Program Robust yet Intuitive

At AVSANT, our Programmers are control freaks! That’s because we know that software is where things get really interesting.

The need for programming in today’s AV systems has gone far beyond just control systems. Today’s sophisticated systems require a variety of programming that can only be done by trained, experienced programmers. Systems with video- and/or audio-conferencing will require digital signal processor (DSP) programming, Zoom rooms require sophisticated configuration and set-up to perform optimally, and remotely monitored systems require special configuration and response that can only be provided by experts on those systems.

There are three distinct and compelling elements of AVSANT System Programming which are unique, but also intertwined:

AVSANT has Three Unique & Compelling Elements:

We Program Robust yet Intuitive

The code that makes up the actual AV control system program is where the heavy lifting gets done in the system. This code is what makes the various system components respond to the user’s wishes, and when it is well written, it will perform flawlessly every time, all the time.

The reverse is also true, as buggy, poorly written code will cause systems to perform unreliably and lead to endless end-user frustration. The code that makes up the actual AV control system program is where the heavy lifting gets done in the system.

The GUI is what the user actually see and use to control the audiovisual systems. A well-designed GUI includes features and functionality that can make the most complex systems intuitive and easy to use.

An elegant GUI also incorporates visual elements consistent with the aesthetic and branding already in use throughout your organization. Our programmers work closely with your team to provide an optimal interface, customized for your specific needs and desires.

We Program Robust yet Intuitive

There is an important distinction to note between the programming provided by AVSANT and the programming provided by some other audiovisual integrators.

Specifically, at AVSANT, we believe that you own the code. When you work with us, in addition to providing you with the executable files that run your systems, we will also provide you with the source code. This means that you can take this code and have it modified by someone internal to your organization or even by another integrator.

Other integrator’s may not provide you with this code, essentially holding you hostage so you cannot work with another integrator. We believe so strongly in this that if you have a system designed by another integrator who will not give you access to their source code, we will be happy to quote you a very discounted rate to replicate.
